Once we watched a lazy world go by

Sometimes you just get lucky.

It was a bright, dry, cold afternoon.

The light was perfect.

Despite the cold, the people walked slowly enough to photograph easily.

Many obligingly stopped to look at the river.

I enjoyed seeing the winter sun reflected in the river and casting shadows on the pavement.

I put the camera in manual, and switched off the flash and liveview.

My new camera does not have an LCD screen on top and I turned the screen on the back to face inside the camera.

That way, I could keep my eye to the viewfinder.

Using the viewfinder frames each glance into a photograph.

Hiding the LCD screen keeps every image a surprise.

When I saw these pictures I allowed myself to completely fall in love with my new camera.

It now feels like an extension of my eyes, as well as my hands.

There were lots of people taking pictures of the river that afternoon.

I hope they love their shots as much as I love mine.
