I have been neglecting my blog somewhat these past few weeks, and have been a bit slow catching up with comments. Sometimes real life takes on a pace that the blog can’t keep up with.

My OH (who tolerates my enthusiasm for my cameras with remarkable patience) gave me a lovely set of filters as a present.

I have been desperate to play with my new toys, but the weather and my schedule have been conspiring against me.

London is shrouded in drizzle. Even in between heavier showers there’s a pretty much constant dribble.

Those rare pockets of bright, dry day are almost always when I am irretrievably occupied. So, the lovely filters and my dslr have been almost as neglected as my blog.

Recent events in Chile and Haiti remind me that I am lucky to live somewhere where the weather is simply annoying and inconvenient.

With that sentiment in mind, I braved the drizzle and went off in search of the sky. I found it in the puddles at my feet.

Great textures.

The road is often ignored by us, as our preference to look straight and level ahead, or gaze above. Your pictures draw our eyes down to that level, and we se the city and sky in the mirrors created by the puddles. Asphalt never looked so good!

I’ve enjoyed seeing the faces in some of your shots, one even looks like a dog…I have an overactive imagination, but I love good composition…well done!

Lovely post, I agree that we can’t complain about our weather, when we don’t experience anywhere near the destruction weather causes in other countries.
Hope everything’s ok

I too like taking photos of the ground and I’m pleased with the results – but no where near as pleased as I would be if I were able to take ones like this.

Great puddle shot I love them too. Beautiful reflections too.
Thank you for visiting my blog, which of course brought me to your blog. I love these photos! I actually spent last week in England, about half the time in London, and enjoyed looking at your pavement between or under raindrops as well. I found myself taking lots of pictures of the streets and sidewalks, and you may be seeing some of them on my blog soon
We have the same weather as you do, so I had no real complaints about that except it’s not as good for your camera as the dry days

These are lovely shots. Your eye is as sharp as ever. Wonderful tones and textures. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. You might want to look into the recent Nikon 35mm f/1.8 DX lens. It’s a “normal” lens (about 52mm) on your camera. Not a bad price either, $200 street USD. I’d consider it if I had a DX camera.
I didn’t use flash on the sisters shot.

Wonderful series of reflections and shadows in these rainy puddles! As for the pace of life … methinks we all experience such times and I believe REAL life always takes precedence over the ‘virtual’ one. Thanks for dropping by … I’m playing catch up too.

Yes, we might get burried in snow – but it’s better than rubble from buildings around you – a good thought to keep!

Yes, in light of what’s happened in Haiti and Chile, we ARE lucky be living in places where the weather is just a mere inconvenience. I will constantly remind myself of that when I’m tempted to complain.
Lovely monochrome, reflection and shadow shots.
